Geoff Wilson commenced practice as a sole practitioner in 1988 having spent several years as an employee solicitor in several large Melbourne firms.

Geoff's practice initially focused on individual clients needs in the health and education sector. A second partner soon joined the firm to provide expanded services to individual clients and to allow Geoff to focus on expansion into commercial law advice and litigation for small to medium businesses, professional associations, charities, the non-profit sector and aged care.

In 1994 a third partner joined the practice to assist the expansion of business law and other areas. The firm became known as Wilson Potter Nicholson.
