Graduated as a Bachelor of Laws, University of Sydney in 1976. Admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1976.

Thereafter, practiced principally in resolving disputes between parties in personal injury law, commercial disputes, contractual disputes and general litigation in small to medium sized law firms, including N. J. Papallo & Co., Hazel & Lucas, Robinson & Scarcella, Anthony Scarcella & Co., Coleman & Greig and Heazlewoods Bushby International Lawyers.
